Dead rock for sale.

I took down my 18g via aqua tank a few months ago and now I have the rock for sale. The tank it was in had a bad bryopsis problem so I soaked it in bleach for a month. Then rinsed the rock with tap water, let it dry in the sun, then let it soak for 3 weeks in a vinager bath, then rinsed a few times, finally let it dry in the sun completely.

These were tonga and figi rocks, great for a nano tank. I think it's about 15-20lbs.

Make me an offer,

Thanks

One whole crisp green dollar. How about one hundred cents?
Just kidding.
That is really a great way to prep the rocks.

Good luck Matt.

You might want to give some thought to cooking this rock for awhile.

You've soaked it in bleach and vinegar for long enough periods of time to allow these items to get deep into the rock. Then simply given a quick rinse and air dry. I think that it is possible that you have now locked these items deep within the rock. I don't know this for sure - it just sounds plausable.

I think I would let it set in salt water with circulation for about another month before putting it back into action.

Just my .02

Hi Matt,
Do you really need to do all of that? I got some dead rock that was loaded with hair algae. I was going to scrub and clean it this week. Will just a good scrubbing and a bleach soak and a de bleaching be good enough? I was thinking that since it was dead, it would be OK with just this method. Is it something maybe in the rock that needs to be leached out more?

The rock was left in the sun to dry completely, Theres nothing left in it.........thats my 0.02 I would let it sit in saltwater for a week, and then use it. Vinegar and chlorine evaporates without any residue than natural salt. Chlorine is made from salt :D

looks like sum nice rock there...not interested in the tonga lol $15 :p

The rocks have dried completely in the sun, thats it they are fine. I know plenty of people who have done this without ill results. I even went through the extra measure of soaking in vinager, and rinsing for the past week and letting it dry after every rinse in the sun.

Bernie21 has first dibs.

Thanks
