dead shrimp

so i got the peppermint shrimp from last nights meeting, acclimated it, and dropped it in. i had no idea how preditory my Falco Hawkfish (Cirrhitichthys falco). it had the shrimp in its clutches before it hit the bottom of the tank!

so my question is; is the peppermint the only shrimp its going to eat or do i have to get rid of the hawkfish to even have any shrimp?

Hawkfish love all types of shrimp. If you want shrimp, the hawk will have to find a new home. That hawk will also prey on your snails and hermits.

thats just great. that article also states that it may eat crabs and snails as well. it also does not get along and can harras gobies. i have a sleeper head goby a little bigger than the hawkfish. that is probably why they get along now but i realize that i now need to get rid of him.

does anyone want him? realizing that i only have 40 posts i am not supposed to sell on here but i think that is for keeping people from just coming in and mucking around. i plan on being around this club and forum for a long time so i will put it up here and if i am stricken down then so be it, but right now i am in crisis mode for getting rid of this thing.

i paid $12 for him. i don't prefer to sell him so i would like to trade him for anything. snails, crabs, shrimp, frag, etc.

again for what it is worth (not much) I suggested that a "101" class should touch on tank mates, almost every one getting into the hobby should have an idea what will make a happy tank environment. WAY too many times animals are bought or Won without knowledge of there pros and cons and more than usually it ends up in death for some animal in the tank. this could be a advanced 101 class but this needs taught to new people, our resources are getting less and less on harvesting these animals only to make it all the way to a persons tank then lunch before it hits the bottom.
I myself have done the same even more than a couple times only to palm myself in the forehead thinking how stupid I was and should have did my homework.
So its just a suggestion
