No one played god. The invasive strain is distinct genetically but not because we engineered it that way. This is like saying any domestic animals environmental impact is the result of 'playing god'.

I asked the CDFA enforcement division to ban entire Cauplera genus, but they have not yet done. The issue is that the folks at the Ag stations have little clue how to identify all these species.

We have Chaeto and other species/genra etc anyway. Like FW weeds, a few are bad and likely ought to exclude the entire group.

Problem is, the lack of enforcement really does not make these laws have any teeth.

So appealing to your notion of stopping invasive species(Public help, support, reporting etc) is the best approach really, unless some major things change.
