Decided to go fallow ... What's next

bullitr

broke but happy
I was trying to go fallow before but I have problem catching some of my fish specially the 3 wrasse and was told that it's safe to return all livestock since ick is always present on the tank ... To make story short I killed so many fish

Some of the casualty

Now I will try to catch all my fish and will go fallow as soon as my fish is ready for round copper and prazipro.

No more mistake/ short cut on qt process
So 8 weeks of no fish on the display.

I am putting 5 medium size fish on a 50 gallon tank without rock or any hiding place but it will have 2" sand for the wrasses just like most LFS .

I want to decrease the salinity to 1.016 or less because I read the the fish do better on hyposalinity. But will that affect the copper ?
I am sure some of the copper will be absorb by the sand but it should be good enough to remove the ick.

Also fish don't need Direct bright lights for 2 months right ?

That is sad......I would not treat fish in low salinity while using copper. I would go no lower than 1.022. But would prefer if you stayed close to what your tank is at. If you do some research you will see that in lower salinity PH is harder to maintain. Lower PH will have a bad effect with the copper treatment. Lower salinity levels only aid the fish in oxygen obsorbtion so in my opininon when treating with copper its not a benefit. Add an airstone to the treatment tank. If you call and talk to Seachem ask for there opinion on low salinity and copper. Maybe I am wrong but I am almost certain I read that somewhere.....

I agree with RBU1. Chooose hyposalinity or copper, but not both. If you choose copper Cupramine seems to be an excellent option. And remove the sand from the tank. No sand or rock in the tank if you're doing copper. It will absorb the copper and make it VERY difficult to regulate.

Good luck. I know how upsetting this has to be.

the big challenge now is to catch all the 20 fish on the tank
4 tangs and 1 angel are easier to catch but
the 6 wrasse and 10+ damsel and chromis will be a the biggest PIA...

I feel your pain, I am currently going fallow, and treating with cupramine, I have 7 fish in a 30g. It took me 4hrs to catch them in my 125g. I would not use copper and hypo together, look at my thread, 50 something posts of good advice. I used hypo in the qt process with all my fish except the last one and well it was infected. Hypo has been hard for me due to my work schedule, so I decided to use the cupramine this time and it. Is so much easier. I haven't lost anything yet but its only been 3 days. Good luck on catching those fish.

Also looks like a lot of stress in your tank from your selection of fish. Stress brings on ich.
I know its a 400g but still.
