Decisions decisions decisions. Do I trade or do I setup....tank advice

I recently was practically given an acrylic tank. It is about 20 gal, with the rear area (dont know what to call it) for the overflow, bioballs, and return. In addition it has been drilled to be a sump, but in such a way that it has plugs in it and can easily be used either way as a sump or as a regular tank. I dont see pictures online anywhere that exactly look like it, but its the kind that has no frame or top. It has a lip on the top all the way around and a black back wall. A few scratchs but overall good condition.

So here is the thing.....I could not use my skimmer with it (hob via aqua multi skimmer). I am trying to decide on staying with my 20gal long or setting this one up. I dont really have the money to spend on the new skimmer and figured to trade the tank for frags....since I have such a small tank, someone who would use this for a sump or a second tank would probably not even miss the amount that I would be happy with.

BUT the acrylic tank is aweful fancy looking......grrrrrr

:mad2:

hey chad! i wanna see this thing i might be able to use it. what are the dimensions?

you could sell it to keithntracy for a 1000 then buy the tank you want LOL :D

Actually I had a pretty good suggestion today by roger. To take the tank and make it a species tank for the RBTAs and clowns, with a 10 gal sump/refugium under it. With the exception of the return pump I think I have everything (including piping from navymedic) to set it up. I have an almost empty FW tank that I have been thinking of tearing down. That would give me a total of 4 tanks in the house (down from the 5 that I have right now). It would be a really nice setup like that. Would just have to come up with a cabinet...but I can make something like that myself!

No way that's a horrible Idea, itll never work..... you should just sell it to me ;) .... sounds like you have way to many tanks already. If you decide to unload it im your guy.

It looks like if I go this way I will have a 58 gal and a 29 gal fw for sale. I am leaning pretty hard to go ahead and sell off the 58 gal soon.

Have any pictures of the 58? What are you wanting for it?

If it makes you feel any better, I have 6 tanks up (1 FW, 1 mantis, and four reefs). Go for another. The sixth is the best one anyway...trust me, I'm there:)
