decorator crab questions

They are ok in my opinion. I had one any it was hillarious watching him trying to add anything he thought he could carry on his shell. He did attach a zoanthid polyp to his back though so he might not be considered 100% "reef safe". But no problems other than that out of mine. Hard to see him sometimes until the little rock with the zoa started walking.

thank you for your reply. I had a fish disapear last night and I'm trying to figure out where it went and thought that maybe the decorator might have eaten it, the fish was a watchman goby

GET IT OUT FAST.....

I had a decorator in my tank for a little while because he came in my live rock. It was hell it took my xenia off the rock it tooks polyps off the rocks it was a monster. he was only the size of about a nickel then and Instead of killing him I decided to add him to my brothers tank a 5 gallon anenome tank. It was covered in algae due to neglect on my brothers part, But wow did that all change. Needless to say the once small decorator crab is now king kong of the crab world. He is easily 3 inches around at the shell not including his legs, I added some dying coral to the tank once and sure enough he stuck it to his shell and tryed to blend. I guess what i am trying to say is if you can get him out it will save you plenty of $$$$ because the cute little crab gets big and is a monster to those expensive corals you purchase. Well good luck on you decision. and I hope my expierience helps.
