I'm looking to purchase one to use for power outage, but don't know if there's a formula to figure out how long one would last based on drain? I have a 750w interter, but was only going to run the Tunze 7095 with two 6100's and a 250w heater.

Is there a certain brand that is recommended?

3 year warranty on the optima as well. i have a red top optima in my mustang, simply the best battery you can get

No need to (depending on how you set it up). They only lose about 1% charge per month. 1 year of non-use and it could still start your car...

Can't do that with most other batteries...

Otherwise, get a battery MAINTAINER. Better than a trickle charger that can overcharge a battery. (Although the Optima is not supposed to be able to get overcharged...)

most auto parts stores will have something called the Battery Tender. it is what steve is talking about. it keeps the battery at optimum all the time. it can charge and discharge as it needs. powersports (sleds, cycles etc) dealers will have the Battery Tender as well.

being a golf cart owner and just recently purchasing new batteries for my golf cart. I think your best bet would be to go with a golf cart battery.

They offer the longest life with out a recharge.

here's a link to one of the best golf cart batteries on the market. They have run time charts to compare to other type of batteries.

The optima batteries have no potential for acid leakage. You do not want a battery that has a vent cap that you have to refill water. Make sure you get a leakproof battery.

you could also get a gel battery from a personal watercraft.

either way, you do not want a battery that isnt sealed. adding water periodically to a battery is something that either will not be remembered, or is a PITA to do.
