After hours of reading, burning my fingers (i suck at soldering), ordering parts here and there.. I finally finished my diy leds. It's a variation of "evil clusters". I can't link via rc to the other sites where all the info is available but google will gladly assist.

Layout + Parts..

Coralux LDD-4 Driver Board

180w 48v 3.75A DC Power Supply

Channel 1- (2) BXRA-950 4000k Neutral White wired in series on a LDD-1000H meanwell driver.

Channel 2- (8) Royal Blue CREE XP-E2 on a LDD-1000H

Channel 3- (6+2) Hyper and True Violet CREE Leds on a LDD-600H

Channel 4- (4) OCW Ocean Coral White leds (red, green, blue on 1 star) on a LDD-500H

Leds are controlled via a Coralux Storm controller that I made a housing for using a radioshack project box. I ran a CAT5 connection from the driver board and fans to the box in the stand.

Now I need to figure out how to hang or mount the floating canopy. :D

I left space on the sides incase I wanna add t5's. I thought about the apex but it got pricey between the converter and vdm's.

Agreed. About $140 between converters and vdm. Was also looking at a bluefish controller, but that's $195 so I was going in the opposite direction

The bluefish is a little pricey but pretty awesome. I opted out of a full controller because if the controller goes down, everything goes down with it. I'm having the pumps run off their own controller and the lights are on a independent controller. I'll eventually pick up an apex or rkl but it'll be for dosing and ato.

Nice! I'm thinking of doing something similar. But I have a electrician friend that will help me lol how did you hang it? chain?

So far the lights have been great. I can control them to any spectrum I want and I have all the fancy features like dusk/dawn/cloud/lighting effects.

I'm most likely relocating so if I do here are the changes i'll be making:

I'll be adding more blue and uv leds. Those BXRA white leds are powerful. I'm also piecing together a T5 retrofit to add. I'm a big fan of t5/led combos. I'll probably go with (2) coral plus bulbs.

the guys name is evil666. He's a nice devil tho. :D

Originally the plan was to hang it but I didn't like the look of it. Then I wanted to build a shelf like thing out of 80/20 to hold it against the wall (like an lcd tv). I think i'll be going that route in the future.
