Defective Clown Fish

I bought a non raised Clown (True Perc) and the stupid thing has made its home in the corner of the tank...it has a perfect rose bubble to go to but the stupid thing likes how the slicone feels on its rear end.

It took over a yr and a half before my clowns decided to host in a pair of mushrooms. Have patience. :)

give it more time.. clowns are real funny on where they wanna live.. ive seen clowns choose strange things to live instead of a anemone..

We have 2 Anemones. It takes time.

My female went in right away, well within a week. My male on the other hand, just went into the RBTA last night, it was a 6 week wait.

This hobby requires "loads" of patience. :D

Good luck!

BTW... it's NOT defective!

i read somewhere that one of the mods said to put a picture of a clownfish in an anemone on the fish tank facing in so the clownfish can see it, he said it worked

I've also heard to put a clownfish shaped veggie clip right by the anemone to facilitate the process of hosting
viceversabrd

There is a pair of clowns in my lfs that are always up in the top corner of the tank - presumably it is where they have decided to take up residence!

give it some time. I've got 2 true perculas .Bought a carpet anemone and one of them was hosting it the same day:eek1: the other one still not interested in it:mad2:

I do understand your frustration but you can't expect instant gratification in the sw hobby. I didn't even know that clowns would host in anything but an anemone. I wish I could have seen the look on my face the first time I spotted mine in their mushrooms. :)

mine hosts in my xenia

but would this work? maybe transferring both to a small quarrantine tank, so that they can get aquainted faster because of the small space?

Update!

I bought a baby Dori and the Clown thinks he is in Finding Nemo........darn thing is co-dependent. No longer hangs out in the corner of the tank....still no hosting in the BTA.
