Definitions please

RTN is when an SPS coral essentially dissolves over a couple of hours, tissue sloughing off the skeleton all over.
STN starts at the base of the SPS coral, tissue dying and peeling off over the course of a few days typically.

Don't LPS suffer from STN and RTN as well?
 
LPS can peel off the base and even detach fully but the causes of such events are different than for SPS. These terms are reserved for SPS typically. Lots of times STN is reported as "bleaching" but bleaching is a whole different thing...
