deflating anemone

i've got a beautiful condylactis anemone that seems healthy. had it for a few months now but for the life of me i can't figure out what's going on with it. seems like it deflates on almost a daily basis but otherwise seems very healthy. i feed it meaty food on a weekly basis but feedings don't seem to correlate to whether it's inflated or not.

anyone else have some advice or info regarding this?

Do you have a pic? These are very shallow water anemones. Unfortunately by the time most of them make it to our LFS they have bleached at least to some extent. They need time to recover. If he is supplied with bright light and plenty of food he should recover. Food is very important durring this stage because he is not getting what he needs from his algae. If the lights are bright enough the algae will come back in time. As he recovers the amount of time he spends contracted will diminish.
These thing can get huge in the right environment so make sure he has plenty of room around him. They have a very powerful sting and can harm most animals that come into contact with it. Here is a pic of my wifes in her 55gl. It is a monster.

You can see the little bleached one in the bottom left hand corner. Notice the difference in the color between the two? If your looks like the little one this is most likely the problem.

don't have a picture at the moment. my anemone isn't bleached at all though, just his tentacles are deflating. i've noticed that it's usually like this in the morning just before lights on...then they seem to expand again during the day.

Yeah, my two (soon to be three) GBTAs inflate and deflate on a daily basis. They all eat like pigs, and the have all coloured up from what the mother colony looked like when I bought it. You should be fine.

just an update...the anemone seems to continue doing this although not as often as when i first got it but it does seem to be happy and surviving!
