I will finally be getting around to setting up my ELOS 20-gal Mini sometime in August in our family room in the basement. Extended business travel at the moment is preventing me from doing it sooner. During the summer months we have two dehumidifiers in operation. One is located on the unfinished side of the basement (laundry & general storage etc...) and the other dehumidifier is in the family room, office area. They each remove about a 1/2 gallon of water on the average every other day or so I believe during the summer months. The saltwater tank will definitely add more humidity to the rooms.
So my question is: how drastic an impact will the dehumidifier have on my tank's/sump's evaporation rate? The Mini is a fully open top rimless tank. The sump (not sure of its capacity) will be open also. The sump has an ATO chamber that I will be maintaining with RODI fresh water. Basically, filling it by hand from the container located in the laundry room area where the RODI filter system is setup. What are other peoples experiences with similar setup locations, conditions and dehumidifiers? Worried that keeping the freshwater top off supply in the sump filled will turn into a RPITA. Especially if I am out of town and my wife has to take over this chore - oh boy!
Another issue I vaguely remember (age) either experiencing myself or reading about a couple of years ago when I had a 180-gallon reef in our upstairs main room and the wastewater side down in the basement had something to do with the lack of fresh air in the house during the winter months and its affect on pH? Was it pH or something else?
I am new to the nano's, so still trying to learn as much as possible before getting it setup. My biggest concern is with the rapid speed that they can be adversely affected due to their limited volume capacity.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.
