Deltec NFP509 Nitrate Filter Review.

FirstContact For me I have exactly what the OP had for equipment,I was having either a problem with the POS AqueeBee pump or the Aquallifter not pumping fast enough, so I was constantly having to break down the system and then losing my good bacterial growth, and starting all over again.

The pump linked are used on Calcium reactors and Nitrate reactors can be found for cheap but there is a learning curve on which one to get. The most important is the feed pump that is adjustable and can be ran 24/7. This is a type of peri pump, not hobby type.

The other peri pump 1.1ml/mn is a hobby peri pump and are pretty cheap and reliable.

So does the reactor work yes but it can be very expensive to hook up, or you can buy a peri pump and just dose carbon straight into the tank, probably 6 to 15 ml start off small and work your way up, it should turbo charge your skimmer and can strip your tank causing a PT to get the Hillea.

I cannot see by the picture dbjon posted how he has his setup. So I cannot comment on that.

My reactor is a twin tower 4" diameter pipe with end caps on each end, and filled with bio media (rings and balls) to house bacteria. Nothing fancy. You can call it carbon dosing reactor if you wish. You can ignore the small pump and tee-off your return or overflow pipe to feed the reactor. Just get a small valve that fits your silicone hose so that you can adjust the inlet flow. Its not pressurized, water just flow due to different inlet & outlet level as can be seen in my drawing. Adjust outlet flow roughly 5% to 10% of total water volume per day (eg for 100G tank, 0.5GPH flow is good enough).
