deltec skimmer

Where is the cheapest place to order a Deltec skimmer? Should I get it from the UK instead of the US? They seem to be cheaper over there but will it work in my electrical outlet if I order from the UK?

Also, what other skimmers would you guys recommend, I want to get a good one for my 75 gal. I have a prizm, but I am tired of it.

From all I have read the Euro spec Deltecs don't work here even with a coverter. You can go to this site and find out if there is dealer in your area or order it online form the same site http://www.deltecusa.us/ Also, I think Deltec sets their prices so it should cost about the same anywhere you get it.

Ok thanks. I am learning. I am tired of buying crappy skimmers so I was considering a Deltec. Would the MC500 be appropriate for my tank? Also what about the MCE300? What is the price on it going to be like? Less or more than the MC500? Just did not know if I should wait on it or not. Honestly I want a Deltec i think, but the cheapest one I can get, which wont be cheap, lol.

The folks on the Deltec forums would be more than happy to assist you in your choice. I don't have one of their HOB skimmer, but use an APF600. This is probably overkill for your tank, but an AP600 might be just what the doctor ordered.

There also many skimmers that are Quite a bit less than the deltec and do just as good a job, Having had an AP600 on my 75 it did nothing to amaze me. Now that I am re doing my tank I am going with a Euro Reef. Price is not an issue but why **** away $200?

Theres also the H&S option. Better skimmers than Deltec, and cheaper in the USA.

Lord, why do I read these skimmer threads anymore?? I swear this is just a close your eyes and run as fast as you can sort of issue. Robin, glad to see that you're decided on a nice skimmer, but really, you will never get a unanimous answer to your question.

I love my AP600 on my 90. I would urge you to oversize whatever skimmer you end up picking. My ammonia never passed 1.0 during my cycles, i think due to the performance of my skimmer.

After having owned an ER and Deltec I would gladly pay the extra money for the Deltec every time.

I have a Deltec and I don't really care to argue about it--it is a very good skimmer, however, and many of the other brands mentioned are as well. I will tell you that if you purchase the European version, due to the modifications you will have to make, you will break about even with the US version--not worthwhile IMHO.
