Deluxe nano cube (12G) vs. Biocube (14)

Browsing the net, it appears that people are split on which of these is a better purchase. Just wondered if anybody wanted to chime in.

I want one that gives me the greatest flexibility as far as corals are concerned.

i think either would be fine....like you said, opinions seem to be around 50/50....but is there a third option? a current or solana tank?

I have the 14 gal biocube and the only problem I have had with it is the fans will sometimes make a loud noise when the tank first comes on in the morning. Other than that it's a pretty good tank..

People like the Red sea maxes but dont like the price that goes with it..

I have had clams, SPS,LPS and all that in there no problems.. And I'm using the stock lighting (PC)..

My opinion is i am getting out of the nano. Just seems to hard to stabilize.

this is TRUE!!....ive seen his tank and was blown away...all livestock looked great....seemed overstocked (yea i said mike..hehehe).....how does he do it i dunno?

I just took pics of it today so you can see what it's currently looking like..

I dont use a skimmer.. And honestly dont do water changes weekly like your supposed to.. on a good month I may do 2 water changes.. I just top off as needed..

Most nanos are basically the same equipment wrapped in slightly different packages. The Red Sea Max seems to be the top of the line, but you'll also pay for it (and frankly, I have trouble dishing out as much for a nano as I could pay for a used 90 gallon set-up).

And with that said, if you're in the market for a tank right now, you're in the minority. With the economy down just a bit, there are a lot more sellers than buyers. Now is definitely a good time to be a buyer, so I'd troll the forums and ask around in nearby clubs... you never know what you might find in your price range.

i was gonna say the SAME thing brian....but her sig already mentions that she has a 90.....so i figured she had a mind set on a getting a small simple setup

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I am trying to downsize a bit from a 90G and I would like to keep all of the livestock (which is not much) and as much of the live rock as possible to start the smaller nano tank. I just need to quickly decide which nano direction I want to go.

if you have the money go for the red sea max...the lighting and skimmer alone would make for a better nano

Anyway, I stand by the looking for a used tank (Nano) statement. I won a Nano at a recent swap, but it is only a 6 gallon, so I'm pretty sure it won't be what you are looking for.
