dendro coral $15 a head

While it certainly looks like a terrible LFS, I've had very good luck with their livestock. I've got a 5 year fire fish from them and a pistol shrimp YWG pair that's going on 6 years.

I wanted to pick up a frag but the ones they had left were looking pretty bad. They had several colonies but weren't willing to frag them. Smallest one had about 7 adult heads.

I got my Dendro coral (Happy)

Hello (I am new)

Before this Dendro coral posting about 6th avenue shop, I never heard nor knew about this place. started my investigation, I read many online reviews about it and many people do not like them, even read someone reporting them to animal control (on yelp)?

I went today with my son.
The place is weird but not horrible, it is certainly for an audience that knows what they want rather a nice place like Concept Aquarium.

I have to say I am happy of my trip, would certainly not go often but it was worth it.

We bought a 9 heads Dendro coral and paid for 6 ($15 each), we also got a powder tang and a nice large flame angel for a very good price too.

The Dendro coral and fishes has survived and are happy in my tank, resting and relaxing.
Staff was ok, they are all about business but answered my questions politely.
(again, they are not very social folks)

It is certain, the corals and fishes are stressed over there, I like the comment from nashorn "think of it as a rescue".

One funny fact, you pick items yourself, at the entrance, you take a container and a fish net. in truth, I found it interesting shopping experience.

in any rate, not sure I will go back (it is a far away trip), I would go back if I knew what is new but they have no website for it.

So I am not taking any side, I am happy of the deal we made.
Joe...

ps: if you go, they have on Sundays 50% deals starting 10AM, what ever you find in a bag. so if you must go, Sunday morning is the better day.

Apparently, I cannot reply to private message until 10 posting, so I am replying to "Funguy" on the board, (that sucks :( )

Hi,

Is it worth it to go any more? Any heads look decent?

Thanks,

- Herman

Hello Herman

The small dendro are very stressed and might not be worth, if you want +8 heads, they have few that are decent. I took a 9 head and I am happy with it. the 3 heads dendro might be risky, but could be rescued (possibly)

I truly hope you dipped the coral and have a QT the fish( I know Wayland did=)

I have 2 friends that lost almost entire tanks gambling on taking short cuts with clement Street over the years. The latest happened this year and a flatworm and zoa spider infestation caused his entire tank to be dismantled and treated, tons of coral loss and the other lost all his fish to ich from a $7 clown fish that took out a few high dollar tangs not being prepared to deal with the worst case scenario. You may get lucky but luck does not last forever.

The livestock is decent priced but you definitely have to go the extra mile to make sure your not bringing anything into your tank. They have a reputation for a reason fwiw.. I'm not saying to boycott the place but be prepared and in the know.

Thanks "Dapg8gt"

For the advice, I took care of this aspect (using Insect killer product and QT).
Maybe I should have created a different forum thread, it does seems I am doing advertising for a place but it is not the case; the matter of facts, I am just happy to have Dendro corals. I (originally) wanted to invest on Sun corals to get different colors other than green :) in my tank; but after some reading, I learned they are more often closed. Recently, I learned about Dendro and here is why I bought some.

Regarding the place, I do trust many feedback and posting I read about them, I wanted to try it.

I am still building the tank and it is a slow and long process
I hear you, it would be a drama to waist the entire tank for $15 deal

Cheers... Joe
