Derasa being nipped by sailfin

I've had a derasa for about 8 years that is now almost 8 inches. I upgraded my tank from 100 to 185 gallons and about 6 months ago introduced a sailfin tang. The tang has recently begun nipping the clam causing it to stay shut for quite a while during the day. Any suggestions other than trying to catch the fish will be appreciated. Thanks!

as the others have said, its one or the other so other than catching the fish, remove the clam. it won't stop until the clam is dead so you have to make a choice.

I had the same problem with my derasa's and amx my foxface would nip at them all the time had to get rid of the fox face it was a great fish. would eat out of my hands and let me pet him. once the fish was caught and taken out. the clams died on it i waited to long.. it was a hard decision to make too

My lawnmower blenny has been picking on my clam so I built an eggcrate cage around the clam. Now he seems to be happier.

You must really like that blenny!
