See how it is in a day or two. I would love update of this guy and of the rest of your clams.
I will do that .
Thank you .
This is my old picture of my tank you can see my old Derasa clam in there .
It got so big that need a new larger tank so it was move to a 400 Gallon tank .
So i wait for two years and I got me a new baby Derasa to grow it back to monster size and give it to the same guy, he got three 400 Gallon reef tanks, but so far don't look so good .

Your getting good advice from someone whose dealt with it personally so keep your head up. I didn't mean to make it sound worse but this is just what I saw. I definetly hope it makes it through.

I did not want to belive that actually bought i diseased clam in the first place :mad2: but after i saw the other side of the clam pinch this morning i had to pull it out of the tank and do the FW dip.
It is my bad luck this last two years with my Reef tank.
At list i did not had to pay to much for all of the clams all four cost about $100. they are not the best of the colors. i got them more for nutrient exports.

From what I've read, they do help with nutrient export but not really that much. And my last comment about someone who has dealt with it, I was talking about OrionN. Luckily I've never had PM and hope I never do.

After i give my old Derasa away i notice how difficult was to keep my nutrients / bad algae low in my tank so for me they are good nutrient exports , but you have to have enough of them or a large one.

This mornings update:
9-9-06.
The baby ORA Derasa doing much better this morning the mantel is extending over the shell it is 80% better after the FW dip for 30 minutes id id yesterday morning .
I will take some pictures tonight.

You should get a Gigas. The down side to this is you have to dump so much Ca into the tank. Large clam use Ca like you would not believe. Optimal condition Gigas (3.5.inches)will grow 1-2 cm each month easy. More if you keep Ca up.

The tank is pack so not much room but because i have a BB i don't like them to bunch/ bang to much in the bottom of my tank my old derasa was doing that daily and use to scare the hell out of me i have the tank in my living room i defiantly don't like to get a crack bottom on my tank. so i stick with something a little smaller for now :D is your gigas does that?

Is it getting better or worst? When I FWD my clams, I did it for 30 minutes. It would be highly unusual if your clam still have PMD.
How about your other clams? Do they show any problem?
BTW, nice Derasa

I think is getting better, i dip the clam in a tab water with the same temperature as the tanks ,it is no chlorine in my water and TDS of 35 . no problems with the other clams so far.
Here the first picture two day a go so you have them side by side so you tell me

Ok , the baby clam is no different today than yesterday you can see where the bad pinch was but 80% better if don't get 100% in another week you think i need to dip it again? or it will take more time than that . You know it was so bad at first.
Thank you!!!!!! Minh.

I never dipped my clams for more than 30 minutes. I just use RO water, keep it under my tank to get them temperature to equal my tank temperature and drop the clam in for 30 minutes. I did not check or adjust pH or anything else. I take RO water out in a cup to heat up in my microwave to get the temperature of the fresh water to equal that of the tank.

How long before it get 100% and if you think i need to do the FW dip over again ?
Yes i did the dip same way as you, i just use Tab water.

update:

update:

I dip this clam six days a go and is about 85% .
The clams in the big tank is ok so far they show no PM disease.
Here is the clam i will keep it in the other tanks refuge till it gets 100%.
I turn the clam some so you can see it better this a very small ORA Derasa here is a picture of the clam tonight.

The clam looks good. There is good chance that it is fully cure. Since you got excelent place to quarantine, leave him there for now.

Unfortunately tonight one of my clams on the reef tank start to exhibited a PM disease so i got the bucket out got the RO water the same temperature as the tank and did a 30 minutes FW dip to all of them that include the small Derasa because i don't think it was completely cured of the PM disease. also i notice that the small clam can close up very tightly and not let any FW in to the clam cavity
They are not to thrill with this but i had no choice. it took about seven days to actually show any PM . that was the closes clam to the small Derasa i only had the small clam in the reef tank for two days before i got it out of that tank did a 30 minutes dip and put it back to a different tank.
I let you know if they all make it .
