Derasa outgrows a 55g in how long?

In the New to the hobby forum I was told that the Derasa clam would out grow my tank in a year. Whats their growth rate? Would it out grow a 55g tank in a year?

my deasa has grown 3"/3.5" ish in about 8 months, id say it would be ok for a good few years

if you put it with it's long side facing parallel to your tank wall and kept a good 12 " x 12" section of the tank completely clear you could probably get away with him for several years provided you can keep up with his calcium demand

Well I do plan to get a new tank (125g) this year. I am just wondering about how fast they grow in a year. Lets say I bought one 3" in size. How big do you tink it will be in a year from now?

it wont out grow you tank in a year. if conditions are good for the clam it may grow an inch or 2

I see. Thanks! At Newbie forum I was told that they would out grow it in a year growing to possible 10" (or something like that or bigger).

just be sure your "reef years" aren't like dog years. Ive been meaning to upgrade my tank for like 5 years now, and five years ago, I was gonna do it tomorrow!
