Derasa Problem/Questions

Yesterday I finally got a derasa clam for my 180 gallon sps reef. He is a little bigger than 2 inches long. The thing is he is barely opening up at all, like a little more than half an inch. Whenever I have gotten other clams they opened up fully right away, and attached to the substrate. I put him on a clam shell on the bottom of my reef for him to attach, but he hasn't yet. Just wondering how long it takes for derasas to open up and attach to the substrate (keep in mind this is a small one). Thanks

it can take a while for the clam to acclimate and trust the new system, how long has he been in the tank??

He went into the tank Wednesday night, right before lights out. This morning he was on his side, but when I picked him up to straighten him out the shell he was on came with him, so I guess he is attached now. Will he straighten himself out?

probably not, dig a small hole in the sand and place his rock in the hole. then cover the rock to prop the clam back up.
