Des Moines pizza party

Bring on the onslaught of pizza party threads!

We need to schedule our respective pizza party. Why don't we look at three weekends, Jan 20-21, Jan 27-28, and Feb 3-4, and everyone that plans on attending post here on when won't work for you. Doing this can get complicated, so let's assume we'll meet on a Sunday around 1:00pm on one of those weekends and go from there.

Thoughts? Suggestions on meeting place? Let's get this knocked out early!

I will second the idea for Great Plains!

Any of those weekends should work for me Im thinking.. as long as I have a notice of 2 weeks or so. I will need to trade a day with another guy at work.

I'm not familiar with great plains, but I am always up for trying new pizza places. Where are they located, and do they have the space to accomodate a table of 12-15? I am getting hungry just thinking about this.

Great Plains is in Ames. If everyone else thinks it's a good idea to have the whole shebang in Ames I'll go along with it, but I think that with all the potential for having new members come to this thing I really think it is a better idea to have it in Des Moines. I'll be dropping flyers at the Des Moines area pet stores and am worried about having new members turn up if we're making them drive 40 minutes to come to the pizza party.

Granted, my first experience with the club was driving 45 minutes to go to last year's pizza party, but I definitely thought twice about it.

My vote is for sticking in Des Moines, despite liking the sound of only driving 5 minutes. There are plenty of good pizza places down there, not to mention pizza places where I wouldn't feel like 20 of us would be taking over the place. I think it just makes more sense for the club.

I can be open for anything, just stating my single opinion.

I agree. I think it works best to have the party in Des Moines. I guess I will just have to try out this great plains place this weekend.

Ditto on the 20-21st. The other weekends would work for me I think.

Let's just call it as Feb 4th at 1:00 pm. Doesn't seem like there's too much concern on the date and as far as I know it won't conflict with the other meetings.

Suggestions on pizza places that would have enough room in the des moines area? I know my favorite place, but I don't think Big Tomato will fit 20+

Whatever the name of the place was that we ate at last year was pretty good, that might also be an option

It was at the Tavern II last year. As long as we can get a place that has enough room, some pizza and some beer, I'm ok with it.

We were at the tavern across from lowes last couple years. They are always good. Or, we could always have the reefclub pop for Splash downtown.

Tavern II on the 4th works great for me. Let's get a head count and see how many people we have. Sarah and I will both be there, so we make 2.
