Design of overflow weir

You're wrong about the "not be able to control the amount of water that enters each".
You just haven't thought about it enough. You have to see the big picture, but you won't and that's okay. That said, I appreciate your imput as I did find it valuable.
 
With all due respect Oscar, I am not wrong and do see the big picture. I assure you, I fully understand the mechanics and dynamics of the sytem you propose and the system I designed and built.

If you have two weirs in a pond that has a constant inflow and the surface of the pond is agitated by wave action, then the amount of water flowing over each of the two weirs will vary over time. In your case, the the total flow is fixed by the return pump and the wave action is the flow in your tank.
 
In regards to the first post... I used a router with a roundover bit on the inside edge of the overflow. It worked great. Pics to follow tomorrow...
