Hello my name is chris i am a fellow reefer who lives in Atlanta. Unfortunatly my father in law has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is in stage 4. He has around one year to live. He is only 57 he just retired and has loved the ocean all his life he often visited treasure key in the bahamas. Anyway I am going to drive down within the next month or so and i will be setting up a 24g nano next to his bedside. I will stock it with SW and a CUC i need to find a store in the area for LR to buy when i get there. So what i am asking is for someone to volunteer their time to checkup on the tank once a week or once every 2 weeks and hopefully befriend him as he is dying. He has never had a SW tank and i know he would love it. And I know the calming effects they can have on people. I would be willing to pay for any and all items associated with the tank once it cycles fish, water, etc. He is also a vietnam vet and has helped numerous people throughout his life. Please help a fellow reefer. Steve is his name and he is a super cool guy and his wife is really nice as well. If you want to volunteer we could work out the details. Thank You for taking the time to read this. Also if you or know someone who could donate some LR or other stuff for a nano that would be great but it is not necessary.

Thank You,
Chris Jacobus

Hey buddy I understand d demands as i deal with cancer pain unfortunately too often. Anyways Ill b happy to tag along with roger and in my spare time which is not much I will consider this an honor and will find whats necessary to help.

Count me in.
I work in Coral Springs and live about 15 minutes away in Tamarac... right next to Big Al's aquarium superstore which has some decent prices on LR.

I have some LR that I could donate, comes from an established tank. If theres anything else Shoot me a pm. I could also donate a few frags from my 20g nano
As a former pediatric oncology nurse I too know the pain that comes with this dreaded disease. Keep your sprits high, and put it in God's hands...

I wish I could be down in SoFL to help take care of the tank, but I will not be. However, I would be happy to donate some easy to take care of corals for the tank, and any advise that is needed with using/taking care of the 24g nano.

I could also donate a few frags.
Ditto.
I've got some softies (xenia, mushrooms, zoas) that should do well in a nano.

Rogger, if you're going to be directly involved...
Next meeting make an announcement that a few frags are needed for this tank and I'm sure someone will donate an auctioned frag or two... plus we could take up a collection to help pay for the maintenance.
I know how it is to have a family member with a terminal illness that has so long to go, and it's extremely sad. Anything we can do to bring a little joy to his life.

I would gladly help out in anyway I can. I agree, this should be brought up next meeting for people to donate frags and other misc. items.

I am too far away being on the other side of florida, but you guys rock for all you are doing to help! This guy might end up with a 180 fully stocked before long the way you guys are rushing in to help.

To be honest, what keeps me going in this hobby when I run into a wall (as a newbie, you find many) is the support that you know you have if needed.
There is no problem that I could not get an answer for from someone in FMAS!!!
