Just bought a 75 gal tank with protein skimmer, filter, hood w/lights, heater, very little crushed coral, a few tester kits, stand, hydrometer for $375.00. Now the hard part (this is my firts SW) I am purchasing a 150g bucket of salt here tonight, just to have extra. How much do I add? Biggest question here though is: How do I go about adding the crushed coral, and can I mix crushed coral with live sand? He also offered me his cured live rock that is well of and has stuff growing on it already for 4 bucks a pound. Should I buy it? How do I add it? When do I add it? If I think of any other questions I'll ask them, but I guess I'm just looking for a set of directions on how to set my tank up step-by-step.

1. add enough salt so that your salinity is between 1.024 and 1.026

2. you can add the crushed coral and live sand at the same time.. thats not a problem just dont put any creatures in your tank yet

3.Lr can be purchases from fellow hobbiest for $2 a pound.. i think he is charging you too much.

4. put the sand and crushed coral in the tank.. let it sit so you can see in the tank and then place your liverock in the tank in a formation that you like.. as you will be the one looking at it everyday.

5. get test kits. when ammonia, nitrates, nitrites read 0 you can start adding fish 1 at a time. you may also want to get ph, & alk test kits.

water changes and time.. its called curing. The rock he is selling you is curred so there should be little to no die off

well how do I keep the rock alive while my tank is curring, and how do I transfer it to my house (45min-hour drive)
