Developing some cyano spots

So I've recently developed about 5 or 6 small spots of cyano. I noticed it about a week ago and they are slowly getting bigger.

My water as of last night was:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrates - 0
Phosphates - 0 ( I think.. API test kit)
Adding more test kits son.

Equipment:
Aqueon #2 sump with bio ball kit
2 filter socks ( 1 with phosguard in media bag )
Bubble magus A5 Skimmer
Jebao PP8
Jebao RW8
Tunze ATO

My maintenance schedule is 15% every other week water change. Clean glass Sundays and Thursdays. Testing water Sundays and Thursdays as well.

From research I've done my plan is to go lights out for 3 days. Feed as normal ( twice a day ) then return to normal lighting schedule. Repeat next month if problem continues and so on till it's gone.

Should I do anything else ? I'd like to avoid chemicals if possible.

Thx

You could also shutdown all flow in the tank, start a siphon and manually remove the cyano with a tooth brush while sucking it out of the tank as it loosens off the rock.

Are the areas that are developing these spots of cyano low flow areas? This could also be a factor. If they are i would try increasing the flow in the problem areas.

I feel like I have pretty decent flow now with two powerheads plus my return pump. I was only running g one plus my return pump up until Wednesday.

Well the second power head should be helping. Just stay on top of nitrates and phosphates and it will start to dissapear.

Are you aware that the cyano could be consuming the phosphates? This can give a false reading of 0.

I did not know that. Thx.

I'll scrub and syphon and see what happens. If it returns I'll do lights out. I am running phosguard... but appreciate the suggestions.
