Devil's Doubt...

Was given a chunk of supposed Devils Hand for free... Can't complain b/c it was free...

It was in pretty bad shape. One side looked pretty bleached and some skin kind of flapped/fell off in the first week.

Going on week three now and it has gained a lot of its color back. Just doesn't look like a Devils Hand to me.. Your thoughts?

Oh and my parameters are fine, no worries there. Toward the top of my tank with lots of flow and good light.

From what I can see, judging by the density of the polyps and the unifomity of their spread it almost looks like some sort of stubby finger leather or sinularia. Although its hard to tell with a frag as to where it was removed from the parent colony. It may have dominant characteristics of that area where it was removed until it can grow out and properly shape up. I see this commonly in devils hands where someone just chops off a lobe and it takes a little time to take shape.

Your frag looks like its monomorphic with only Autozooid polyps like a sinularia. Devils hands (lobophytum) are dimorphic and have both Autozooid and Siphonozooid polyps. I would say its a sinularia by the looks.
