Devils hand coral

I've been having problems introducing sps and Lps frags into my system after I took this coral in. Is it true these guys can be the root of my issue? Parms in order...

That said yes they can cause problems. This can be mitigated by running activated carbon. It would kill LPS or SPS frags though. Just inhibit growth and or stress them.

Sps frags do fine for about a week then turn white and toast. Lps hardly extend...

What is your SG? You need to get those phosphates to <.03 or less, this appears to be your biggest problem with water chemistry. So your parameters are not in order. Most do look fine though, and I do not think your leather is the cause of your problems with SPS and LPS it's your phosphates

Exactly. If you have 0.8 phosphates, that's brutally high. Over 10x the safety level even for tougher acros. Also, how stable are your numbers? Does your alk jump around?

I'm hoping he meant .08 PO4. What lighting are you using? What are you using for flow?

Are the frags bleaching or going through RTN?

I don't think the devils hand is the problem. I don't have sps but a tank full of softies and lps. one lps, a pictinia sits right next to my devil's hand. no problems with either.

I've kept a reef tank with both softies and LPS corals as well and I never had any problems with Allelopathy either. I never ran any GAC on this tank too. Regular water changes and efficient skimming seemed to do the job.

Cloak, that's an awesome coral! :thumbsup: Is that a red devils hand? Where did you get it? Better yet, where can I get one :lmao:

I've never heard of a "red" Lobophytum before. Sounds cool though. I think I just got it at my LFS 10+ years ago or so. (Twins) They're actually pretty common around here.
