DFS neon polyp purple true undata

I believe that they are one and the same... At least all appearances lead me to that assumption... But as PSam stated, I paid a lot less for my piece... But that is about the going rate for most of the online sites I've seen it posted at...

I do have to say I walked thourgh there coral facility this past weekend with our local reef club and I have to say that most of there pictures were way off in color. And I mean that in a good way. Everything was much sharper and brighter. HTH

Looks kinda ugly imo.

This is a frag I got from a local reefer, not sure what it is, looks similar.

The frag in question is most likely a true M. undata. A bit pricey, IMO! A rather fast grower for most. This species is often confused with M. monastrea and M. danae/palawensis. The later two have very large verrucae, about 5mm+, while M. undata has only 2-3mm verrucae. Also, M. undata has a smooth growing edge, which helps seperate it from M. monasteriata, which has verrucae and ridges right up to the edge. Colour is variable in all species and cannot be used as an ID, other than the colour morph.

We were there yesterday with our local club, so I've seen this piece from about six inches away. Definitely an undata (or what sells as the "true undata"). Very nice piece, looks better than in the picture as well, as do most of their pieces in person.
