DI rinse

Hi Randy,
Is it true that DI rinse can be reuse. The guy on my local pure water store told me that we can reuse DI rinse by put it in to filter bag and dip it to softener salt for 1 week then we can use it again....

Mixed bed DI resins cannot be reused, although individual cation and anion resins can be recharged with a different process (detailed above).

That process with the salt makes something that is an ion exchange resin, not a DI resin. Coralife sells such a unit and calls it DI, (IIRC), but it isn't. One problem is that you can never tell when it is depleted.

Sure they can if you want to go through the pain. The densities are quite different. The cations sink and the anions float :D

The solution is 26-27 % salt and 18 percent (or greater) sodium hydroxide in water.

You can also do it by letting them dry and then running them through a sieve screen, as their particle diameters are different.

I think Calfo had an article about using only DI Caution and Anion resins to purify water.........if the search function is working it's an interesting read.
