In general we use RO/DI filters to provide "0" TDS (total dissolved solids) (aka very clean/pure) water to our tanks..
The first prefilters and RO stage gets out "most" of the potentially "bad" stuff/sediment/chlorine,tc.. in the tap water and the last DI stage takes care of what the others didn't..
An RO membrane is typically 95-98% efficient in that it blocks "most" of the stuff we don't want.. The DI handles the rest.
