Diadema urchin

So LFS recommends getting a long spine diadema urchin to deal with this one rock in my 125 that has lots of long green hair growing on it - so I was impulsive and did it. Had him for 3 days and he just sits on the glass day and night ... Going nowhere near any rocks let alone the one with hair ... Arrgghhhh ... Should I just chill and give him time to find it? Test of the family thinks he's ugly .... <sad face>

Sounds like it has a problem, it should be scouring the rocks. Search "Martin Moe" and "Urchins". His research argued pretty convincingly the problems the Caribbean reefs are having can at least in part be blamed on the Diadema urchin dieoff in 1983.
