Always QT b4 adding new fish. Some people add fish w/ no problem, they are the lucky ones. Its better to safe than sorry. When I fist got into his hobby, my "well meaning husband"(who had a tank a couple of years b4 & let it go) talked me into setting it up again "if" I tended to it. I jumped in blindfolded. He told me he had never qt'd a fish......well long story short I lost several fish due to ich & when I finally had everybody happy & thriving a hurricaine took it down.
I have just gotten back into it last year. It is a learning experience every day.
Ick due to stress, can be present even though you havent seen the spots yet. But you have a lot more experience than me, just giving my 2 cents (for what its worth)
