A few of my SPSs do not have very good polyp extention. They remain to grow but are not opened up or may I say fuzzy looking. (They look fuzzy when I buy them) I think I have having some water quality issues as my turbinaria doesn't shoot out the long sweeping tentacles anymore and my pulsating xenia is retracted a bit.
Tank is 80 gal. with a refugium, protien skimmer, calcium reactor. 2 250 MH SE 14,000, with 2 96watt PC 6700/10000. I have a wavemaker and there appears to be good water movement. I am on the bubble with buying a kalk reactor as I have to supplement calcium frequently, and I don't like to kalk top off bucket. I have been trying to determine what is going on.
Calcium is generally around 380-400
Mag. 1300 range
Alk 8 dKh
Phosphate, amonia, nitrate, nitrite all 0ppm.
Salinity 1.026.
My yellow starpolyps open and then close later in the day similar to the glove polyps. I did have a hair algae problem but after the phosreactor no issues. I feed the fish a blister pack cube about 2-3 times a week. and Roti-feast or DT about 2-3 times a week as well. From time to time I will use coral-vital or reef solution, micor-vert.
I am at a loss. Do you think the majority of this could be attributed to my year or so old lights.
