A few of my SPSs do not have very good polyp extention. They remain to grow but are not opened up or may I say fuzzy looking. (They look fuzzy when I buy them) I think I have having some water quality issues as my turbinaria doesn't shoot out the long sweeping tentacles anymore and my pulsating xenia is retracted a bit.
Tank is 80 gal. with a refugium, protien skimmer, calcium reactor. 2 250 MH SE 14,000, with 2 96watt PC 6700/10000. I have a wavemaker and there appears to be good water movement. I am on the bubble with buying a kalk reactor as I have to supplement calcium frequently, and I don't like to kalk top off bucket. I have been trying to determine what is going on.
Calcium is generally around 380-400
Mag. 1300 range
Alk 8 dKh
Phosphate, amonia, nitrate, nitrite all 0ppm.
Salinity 1.026.
My yellow starpolyps open and then close later in the day similar to the glove polyps. I did have a hair algae problem but after the phosreactor no issues. I feed the fish a blister pack cube about 2-3 times a week. and Roti-feast or DT about 2-3 times a week as well. From time to time I will use coral-vital or reef solution, micor-vert.

I am at a loss. Do you think the majority of this could be attributed to my year or so old lights.

What are your temp swings like? I would change your bulbs for sure. I normally change mine every 9 so i don't run the risk of bleaching when i do. Do you have any angels or anything that might be taking a liking to eating your corals

what type of powerheads do you have? and how many?

i would feed more, i feed 2-3 times per day.

have you looked for pests on the coral by dipping any of them? AEFW are the rage lately and MANY people are just finding out they have them and probably have for some time. Just something else to look into.. Also how are you measuring salinity?

No predation issues, and as far as the temp from about 79-83. I am considering going with an oceansmotions and a kalkreactor to help out in a few areas. What do you think.

Red sea wavemaker with two maxi-jets attached. One nano tunze on constantly along with two other powerheads mainly directed at the surface for shimmer lines. Mag 7 return pump with a SCWD in the back of the tank.

Feeding more, I will listen, but it seems there are excess nutriants in the water right now as my LR is not all that clean looking, and I have what I would describe as moss or something similar to hair algae growing around the chaeto in the refuguim.
