Diamond goby + hospital tank + copper safe??

So I set up a hospital tank a couple of months ago to treat for ich. I've removed all of my fish from my DT and transferred them to the hospital tank. I did however, set up the hospital tank with live sand and rock. Sand for my goby and rock for my fish to hide in. Been thinking of removing the rock and replacing it with a PVC pipe form. I'd really like for the tank to be bare with the exception of the PVC pipe and dumping the sand. Since the goby feeds from the sand, what do I do with him? More importantly, does he need to be treated since he is less susceptible to ich or can he withstand copper treatment?

If you know your DT has Ich, then all fish need to be treated (even Mandarins - the most "Ich resistant" fish of them all).

I've treated gobies before using both Cupramine & Coppersafe; never had a problem. Just raise the Cu level very, very slowly. Like, over 4 or 5 days. For the goby, put a small amount of sand in a pyrex bowl or something.

Good idea removing all the sand/rock. Having it in there will absorb a lot of the Cu, and make maintaining a stable level difficult to achieve. What the sand in the pyrex bowl absorbs should be minimal.

...and make sure you have a good cover so he doesn't jump!

So sticking a small Pyrex bowl full of sand in the hospital tank will act as a "food dish" like a dog bowl? What if (and I'm sure he will) dump it all outside of the bowl?

Just siphon it out during a WC. You can then either reuse it, or give him new sand (not from your display).

What kind of goby is this anyway? I have a Watchman that does like to "play" in the sand, but also eats anything & everything I throw at him via target feeding.

Diamond goby, stated in the title.
