the eheim that comes with the 618 is a bit undersized (it probably only does 50gph or less even when packed with ARM) and doesn't have a ceramic sleeve in the impeller. so if the media mushes, it ruins the impeller. that plus seeing a MTC reactor in action (ian's) with it's oversized pump sold me.
