Diatom bloom?

Hey reefers,

Is this a diatom bloom. I'm pretty sure it's is.

From what I read there isn't really much I can do about it? Just water changes and it should go away on its own?

yup...diatoms are like a dust that can be blown away easy..
Then there is just brown/green algae..

welcome to a new tank.. Its 100% normal and will go away on its own with proper maintenance

Thank. I thought it was however I did try blowing it away with a turkey baster this morning and it didn't budge.

I was planning on adding more CUC this week. I was gone for 2 days and came home to this. Should I wait before adding to my CUC?

I specifically wanted to add 3 shrimp (peppermint, fire, and skunk) with a few more snail (have 10 atm).

If the water is fully cycled (no ammonia..no nitrites) then add your CUC..

If you haven't already stated you can start your water changes to bring nitrates down (if needed,etc..)

Since it doesn't blow off its just an algae (not diatoms) and again is normal..

Seems like its doing just fine..
