alright, Iam over the diatom bloom...that vanished as fast as it started, which is very cool and wasnt sure what that was all about...now I come home and have areas of light green coloration on the rocks...dont see anything on the substrate yet. Hair algae or some other algae? I would take a pic but probably wont show up. Going to give it a little while longer and see what comes of it. Checked my phosphates and looks darn near 0 now and nitrates are still at 5.

Man, fighting all kinds of weird stuff - diatom bloom, evil chromis, toadstool woes, and now this lime colored stuff.

On a positive note, got my apex jr...that thing is excellent!

Welcome to a new tank..
You are now on stage 2.. green stuff..
You might enter stage 3.. cyano

Keep your nitrates/phosphates low and the algae will go away on its own..
Also time to add a clean up crew (CUC) if you want to help make it go away..
I'd recommend a snail only CUC as crabs tend to just eat your snails..

reefcleaners has good pricing on them

Probably is a good time for CUC for sure.
I haven't had my crabs ever bother a snail but I also do provide empty bigger shells for them change the shell out for which they like to do from time to time they sometimes pick a smaller one at times too..... I only have 2 scarlet red ones the others I cant speak for.

Don't over do it either I only have 5 snails and 2 hermits in a 40b and they do a good job, buying too many and they will just die and pollute the tank.

right now, got 7 snails, which they did a great job on the diatoms. Have 2 blue legged hermits...super small but thats all the store had. Plan on getting more crabs.

I was amazed how quick the snails cleaned off the rocks. I must say, this new algae is kinda odd looking...just strange looking...see what happens

I'm going through this right now also. I lessened the length my lights are on and found that the algae become more weak and I can manually remove it with a baster. I will say though I leave it on my back glass cause I've been having a pod explosion and they are happy in it.

As stated before though keep your levels down, do your water changes it will disappear in time.

looks like green hair algae starting, tho not alot...I have been very particular on my water paremeters...nitrates are very low 0-5 and phosphates unmeasurable...What gives?

Totally normal..
A tank can easily take 6-12 months to "mature"..
and it can take a few months just to get through the initial algae stages..
Stop worrying.. Its normal..
