Diatoms in refugium!!!

Anybody got a quick cure for diatoms in the refugium? My main tank is in pristine condition... very clean, crystal clear. My refugium however has a lot of diatom growth. I have tried to place some snails (they have helped a lot), but my cheeto algae is getting covered with this stuff. Any quick solutions?

Thanks for any input,

Plus one on flow.

I think whatever you have in the sump/fuge or DT eventually makes it to the other side.

I had good results with SeaChem Matrix (in addition to live rock).

Good Luck,

I have already placed a bunch of live rock rubble (several pounds) in there. What is the purpose of flow in the refugium and will it move the cheeto around all over the place?

Wouldn't that kill my cheeto algae?

No, your cheato will be fine. Cut the lights for a day or two and add some flow. Extra flow will also most likely benefit your cheato. The ideal condition for cheato is to have it continuously tumble so light can reach every side equally.
