So is this Diatoms or Cyano? How can I rid my tank of it? Tank has been running since October tests are all perfect. 0 -Phosphates, Nitrates & Nitrites.

I had the same problem and continue to have this problem on and off...if you do lights off for 2 days it will clear up. Mine usually came back though in a couple of days.

I had some thick mats of cyano all over my tank. Hours after dosing Chemiclean, my tank was notably better. It looked perfect the next day and still does 4 days later. Just remember that it treats a symptom, not the cause.

Looks like cyano. I had them in the beginning three months after my tank started cycling. I don't suggest light-off method because this is the sign that your system is trying to find the balance. If you turn the light off the system is shut down. It will restart again once the light is on. I just left them there and they were all gone in about a month.

The reason you had zero reading was because before those nutrients/phosphates could make a reading on the test kit, they were absorbed by the cyano/algea.

Solution is to use Rodi water and do water changes on regular basis. Remember to syphon the sand bed and clean the live rocks.
