People have asked how to shut these guys down? You can't.
They are the same folks that sell grey market TVs and extended warranties. They sell you the goods and the extended warranty (because the OEM warranty does not apply). When you make a warranty claim the warranty company tells you that the vendor did not ever complete the proper proof of purchase forms (even though YOU have the receipts!). Doing some digging you find out that the seller IS the warranty company with a different DBA.
Do some more digging and you will find out that these guys sell just about every type of electronics made and they scam almost 100% of their customers. The "broken" returns are just sold to the next guy. The same malfunctioning camera or TV may be sold to 100 people. 15% restoking fees and "diagnostics" fees are common tricks. If you tell them it is DOA they will give you an RMA and charge you a 20% testing fee. They call you back and tell you that the item is good (a lie). If you want it back you pay the 20% diagnostics fee+shipping (they send you a different, working unit). If you don't want it back you pay the 20% restocking fee and they sell it the the next guy and scam him.
The NY BBB and the States Attorney General get thousands of complaints a month about bestpricedcameras and the other 50 names these guys do business under. The honest truth is that they don't have the time or care to go after them (if you call them they will tell you as much). Victor and his partners know it. If they end up getting a little heat, they just go out of business and open up shop under a new name with a different family member or partner (usually not US citizens) as the named owner. The cops and the suits better things to do than chase down huksters like these guys... not to mentoin that the state profits from them anyway.
Here is the WORST part. The manufacturers are IN ON THE SCAM! They are the ones who sell these guys pallet loads of returned and damaged goods!
Don't think for a minute that Nikon, Sony, Toshiba, Avaya, Hitachi, etc want the "grey market" goods flow stopped! They are the ones who feed it through a shady distribution chain. It allows them to keep production levels high and steady and siphon off the excess and returned/defective product! Where do you think all of the returned goods go?
Think about it... you have a plant that makes lenses. They don't adjust production levels on a daily basis to account for demand. Instead they just slam them out. What is not needed to stock the distribution chain is siphoned off as grey market goods. Stand at a Circuit city for an entire day and count the number of returns to that single store. Now multiply that times every electronics store in the country, EVERY DAY. Those goods can not be sold as "new" and the OEM does not have the time or will to "refurbish" and resell all of them. What happens to them? They are NOT checked or looked at. They are simply palletized and sold off to guys like Victor at bestpricecameras! They are auctioned by the truckloads to eBay vendors and flea market vendors.
Be carefull what you buy!
Adorama and B&H are great. As others have said, if you find it cheaper, then buyer beware!
