Did i nip the snails in the bud?

I just got a clam from my buddy last night, a 6 in des. I drip acclimated him for just under two hours and put him in my tank. The instant i put him in the tank i noticed white snails all long the top....I shouted "oh @#$%!" and pulled the clam right back out. It's a bearded clam...has white star polyps on both sides, so I quickly got a tooth brush and scrubbed and scrubbed like crazy. I got in all the little groves, picked up the pieces of mat that were floppy, and i basically scrubbed for about 6 minutes. I then placed the clam back in the tank...and w/in 30 seconds it started to open, and all seems well.

Did i eradicate my problem b4 it started....PLEASE SAY YES ;)

Just for knowledge...i've never had a clam in my tank b4, and the clam was in my tank for no joke 15 seconds before I yanked it out to brush off the snails.

Thanx for the help!

yeah...stupid me cleaned the top, and the sides where the white star polyps are....but didn't think to do the bottom (my logic...the clam doesn't open on the bottom...so why would they be there.....)

WRONG!!

Took the clam out again tonight, and cleaned the WHOLE clam. I was amazed @ how many were in the crack on the bottom of the clam. This time they're all gone...probably got rid of another 20-25 tonight. Hopefully they're gone for good now!
