Hi guys from the community,

I have a 30L nuvo fusion. A week ago my cycling was done and a decided to get 2 clowns as my first fish. On Friday I did a new water test and the ammonia came at between 0.1 and 0.2 (hard to tell the color). I tried not to go crazy thinking that my will die (I"m newbie in the hobby) so I thought that it could be time for the first water change (haven't done it a single one yet) due to the fish excrement and left over food. I went to my local LFS (World Wide Corals) and as I always do bought the water already premixed. I went back home with everything that was necessary to perform the water change and yesterday 24 hrs later I've noticed that the ammonia was still present in the water even after changing 5 gallons, around 20%, so I was pretty confused. Today they said to do another 5 gallon and this time adding 3 ML of seachem prime and wait 24 hours and then repeat the water test. I'm just wondering how often should I use this prime and if, should I double the dose? Since it's a "brand new" tank how often in the upcoming week should I add prime and do 5 gallons water change? Just want to get my chems back to normal.

thanks so much.

False ammonia readings are very common..
I would not worry about it nor would I continue dosing prime given that you properly cycled the tank..

Ty for the reply.

As far the water changes should I keep doing it everyday with 3-5ml of prime for the hole upooming week? Just leave it l?

Thats up to you ..
I don't know any details about how/what,etc.. you did for cycling so I don't know if you did it right or not so I really don't know if the ammonia readings are false or not..

If I knew I cycled properly I wouldn't worry about it and would just keep with a normal 20% every 2 week water change schedule..
