Went away for a couple of days this week and came home to find a dead and completely disintegrated (into stringy slime/mucus) hammer coral. On taking it out of the tank we noticed a chunk of zoa polyp (2 polyps somehow detached from the main colony) on the hammer skeleton.... could it be that it was palytoxin poisoning that killed the hammer???? Water parameters are perfect, hammer had been happy under new lights and in moderate flow and seemed to be doing so well!! Any thoughts?
