If there is one thing, only one thing, i have learned in this hobby, it's patience.
Give the critter some time to adapt to "your" tank. That would be your flow, your lights, your water changes etc..
How would you feel, if every day you came home, someone had changed the environment in your house? Changed all the light bulbs, turned up the A/C, didn't offer anything for dinner tonight, yada, yada, yada....
You keep chopping and changing for changes sake, the critter never gets accustomed to a stable environment.
How about you write up a three week schedule, stick to it religously, and then see what the anenome looks like. Keep your feeding regular, your water changes regular (if at all), your flow constant etc etc...
As long as he's not turning to goo, you're on the right path.
