did you like mjmods.com

I am planning on ordering two 1200's with the mod kits. I would like to get some feedback on the quality of the mod kits. Did they go together without much trouble? I would rather not have to modify a mod kit if you know what I mean :)

Pretty easy to put together and they have online instructions. First mod I used only a measuring tape and steak knife to see how easy it was. The second one I used my dremel set with the proper cutters.

They're alright but a little expensive for what it is. They give you a bunch of materials to try out which is nice. I would recommend the medium flows... you won't be dissapointed with the amount of flow from them.

Great site and materials, and the mod is incredibly easy to put together. I built a couple out of my own materials and a couple out of materials from the site.

I had already made my own shrouds and props.

After a disaster with one of my mods, I went to mjmods and bought a couple of centering caps.

-- Never underestimate the importance of being centered. --

Cautionary tale: If the magnet is spinning off center it WILL rub against the housing, rub all it's coating off and expose what's underneath which will seriously rust.

Of course, now, with the caps, they're spinning merrily away. :D

I reccomend them 100%. The kit's aren't expensive considering what you get. It's a very complete kit that takes time to make so $25 bucks isn't much IMO. I got the kit and installed it on a MJ900 and it's too powerful for my tank so it's sitting in a box.

I have a couple of MJmods for the MJ 1200 and one for the MJ 900 and like them very much. As far as water movement goes they are great!

The comment about the unit being centered that was made is very true. One of the MJMod shrouds centering cap is a little off and that thing will not work right. I certainly don't want it wearing to the point that I am imputing rust into my tank!

That said, have you all seen the new Hydor Koralia pumps? Looks very familiar since I am used to the MJMod kits and has an adjustable base. Not too much more than buying the MJ 1200 and a MJMod kit.

Take a look:

I like them. I bought them since I did not have the time to play around making them myself. I did not receive the centering cap on my order and they sent them out no questions asked. That is good service.

If I didn't already have the maximods I would surely try out the koralia pumps.

I have a maximod 1200 hi flow kit. It lasted all of 6 hours before it killed 2 anemones. I use it to mix water now.
