Dieing Fungia?

A few weeks ago, after returning from a week long vacation, I found my plate had moved close enough to my brain (T. Geoffroyi) that, when inflated, the brain covered about a third of the plate. I separated them, but since the plate has gone downhill. At first it wouldn’t feed, and then it began inflating less and less. About a week ago, tissue had receded enough that the skeleton started showing in a few spots and it is spreading (including around the mouth). I tried Lugol’s dip in hopes of turning things around but it had no affect. Is there any hope for my plate? I’d hate to lose it.

If I does look dead, keep it in the tank. They often reproduce this way. Weeks later when you have given up hope you may find little baby plates on it.

Yeah, I've heard that and will keep it in the tank. I was hoping somebody had experience with bringing a plate in this condition back.

Thanks.

I had one in bad shape that did exactly what yours is doing, no expansion or feeding. It hung on for quite a while and then was dead one morning. Now there's a bunch of babies on it though.

Thanks for the input. It's not looking good, the skeleton is now about 25% exposed. How long after death do the 'babies' begin sprouting?

Took about a month on mine, I really thought it was totally dead not coming back and then noticed tiny amounts of flesh, now it's gotten to the point where you can see at least ten tiny little plates and one larger.
