difference between true and onyx

a true onyx? nothing, other than they have more black on them than a normal perc would.. I guess there's some definition of onyx somewhere basically w/ black connecting bars and through certain fins, etc. but they're the same line of fish. Just like the occellaris and the black and white occelaris are the same, just different colors. Picture a labrador retriever, yellow, chocolate, black... all the same dog, just different colors :D sorry.. got off topic there a little HTH

well true percs have pretty thick black lines on them and onyx clowns have a lot more black on them and actually be covered in all black which is really cool

onyx will have solid black between the second and third bar as well as between the head bar and the middle mature adults.

so all black except the fins, face and bars.

yeah but even the fins have what seems to be "thicker" black barring on them, almost like they're black fins w/ a little orange on them vs. vise versa. I guess I should say typically since it seems that way on most of the pictures I've seen.
