Exactly what the subject line says - what is the difference between Wellsophyllia and Trachyphyllia? Is it simply the number of "well's?" Does the Trachyphyllia just have one, while the Wellsophyllia has multiple?
Wellsophyllia is what a certain open brain coral used to be called. Now they are all Trachyphyllias and no longer called Wellsophyllias. It's classification changed and was included into the Trachy heading. Just semantics really.
i agree. wellsophyllia is a nice name to use to describe the different growth pattern the once different genera formed. Trachyphyllia is correct for both now though.
