Is there really a difference, I just bought 3lbs off amazon for like $34. It seems to do the job. It also looks just like the BRS brand.

There's two different kinds. The high capacity and then regular GFO other than that its all pretty much the same. I get mine from amazon also.
Yeah I knew that part, but how has it been working for you?

I just tested today with salifert and got 0.00 I also have a good bit of cheat in my fuge so I think it socks up what my gfo doesn't. I don't have to use a lot of gfo but I have 0 algae in my display and I wouldn't think twice about buying the bargain stuff from amazon.

Damn auto correct.
Ok, I ask because since switching to it, I have developed dark brown algae spots in my tank. I have slight not very much hair algae that grew in my tank. My refug were my cheato is grown was full of it on the glass. Now I also started using phytoplankton also.
